To The Unknown Musician
It is time for you to ask yourself ‘Why am I doing this? Why am I continually making music that few hear and fewer appreciate?’ I have an answer for you here …
When?your motivation to make music is to please people, you are on a track to failure. Sure, some musicians and songwriters seem to succeed in this, but in the end they find themselves unfulfilled. They can’t seem to please everyone. Neither will you be able to please everyone.
So it is time to change the motivation and?the reason for pushing yourself to your limits. You need to get rid of the idea that you are ministering to man and return to ministering to God. He is the only one who will appreciate any effort that you make to minister to Him. This is the first step.
The next step is to return to your heart’s cry. Return to your inner man’s desire to worship his Creator. You cannot satisfy man, but you can satisfy God. He is only interested in your earnest heartfelt desire to give Him thanks and to give Him the honor that is due His name. Open your heart again to Him; the God and Father of our Lord Christ Jesus. Hold nothing back.
Now the ultimate. Do this when there is no one around. Find a quiet place to worship Him alone. This is where you find out if you really do love Him as a son loves his Father; when there is no worldly?gain. David spent a lot of time in the fields watching the flocks and ministering to the Lord where there was none to hear; no one who could pat him on the back and say ‘Hey Dave. That was great. Maybe you should publish that one.’
Do you remember this parable? The servants work hard?in the fields all day. When the day is done they return to the Master’s house where they minister to Him. When His needs are satisfied, then they are free to rest. Remember that one? Your work is not done until you have ministered to the Lord.?You may have some success ministering to men, but you?will?not be satisfied until you have ministered to the King.
Spend time with Him. You will never regret a moment given to your King, the Lord and Master of all.
